Bill Wood ’86 was a standout on the football field and the baseball diamond. As a football player, Bill was a defensive back and punt returner, finishing the 1985 season with eight interceptions, just one shy of the program record. He helped hold opposing quarterbacks to less than a .500 completion percentage that season and averaged 7.8 yards on 26 punt returns. He also had an excellent season as a rookie, making six interceptions during the 1982 team’s run to the NCAA semifinals.

As an outfielder for the baseball team, Bill was a five-tool player. Over his final three seasons, he hit .323 with a .493 slugging percentage, stole 35 bases, had six home runs and 45 RBI. He had a .455 on-base percentage and had tremendous range in the outfield.

Bill has worked in the financial services industry since 1991 and is currently lives in Jupiter, Florida. He has two grown daughters, Alexis and Ashley.
