Hall of Fame
Eric Heffler '99 had one of the most outstanding seasons a goaltender has ever had for the Saints' men's hockey team as a senior. He was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year, the league's Ken Dryden Goaltender of the Year, was an AHCA First-Team All-America and First-Team All-ECAC selection, and made the ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team.
Â
Heffler posted a .931 save percentage and a 2.39 goals against average as a senior. Thanks in large part to his play, the 1998-99 team still holds the programs biggest win differential from the previous season; the Saints were 23-13-3 after winning just nine games the previous season. He ranks third on the Saints career save percentage list (.920) and fourth on the all-time saves list (2,253).
Â
After graduating from St. Lawrence, he spent four years playing professional hockey, including 68 games in the AHL. After a one-year stint as a volunteer coach at Princeton, Heffler earned an MBA at the University of Buffalo. He's now a vice president of commercial real estate financing at M&T Bank in Buffalo, where he lives with his wife, Steph, and children, Ellie, Samantha and Max.
