A defensive back in football, guard in basketball and shortstop in baseball, he was one of the top athletes on all three teams and earned all conference honors in basketball and baseball.

He was co-captain and one of the top scorers on the 1971 basketball team which established a St. Lawrence record for victories and went 6-1 in the Independent College Athletic Conference to share the conference title. He set a record for free throw percentage at 83.5 that season and helped the team establish a scoring record for points in a season. He was a key player on teams which won 16 games in two consecutive seasons and won back-to-back conference titles.

A shortstop with outstanding range in baseball, he was the leading hitter on the team in 1970 with a .310 batting average and helped the Saints in a strong stretch run in the regular season.

He remained active athletically following his graduation, participating in triathlons and was an outstanding amateur softball player.
