One of the top Nordic combined athletes in the East during his collegiate career, Bud Fisher has maintained his involvement in the sport as the Nordic coach at Williams College and as a former US Ski Team and Olympic Coach.

He was Eastern champion in the Nordic combined as a junior, winning the title at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association championships at Middlebury with a eighth in the cross country race and a seventh in jumping. He finished second in the Nordic combined as a senior and competed in the NCAA championships in both his junior and senior years. He was a consistent top three finisher in the Nordic combined throughout his career and captained the 1968-69 and 1969-70 ski teams.

He became head coach of men’s and women’s skiing at Williams College in 1974 after earning his master’s degree in education at St. Lawrence and has served as acting department chair and director of athletics, and is currently Associate Director of Athletics and Nordic ski coach. The EISA Coach of the year in 1978 and 2005, he was a member of the NCAA Ski Rules Committee form 1989-95 and the chair of the committee from 1993-95. He was EISA president from 1982-84. He has also coached women’s cross country running and been assistant track coach and assistant varsity baseball coach.

Bud served as the assistant cross country coach for the US Ski Team from 1978-80 and was the assistant cross country coach for the 1980 US Cross Country Olympic Team. He also was coach and teacher at Oppdal Videregaende Skol in Opdal , Norway in 1995-96 and the coach of NTG Lillehammer in Norway in 2002-03.
