Victor Sacco

A standout in both football and baseball and captain of both sports for the Saints, Victor Sacco was defensive captain of the 1949 football team which won its last six games and set the stage for a 14-game win streak which included the unbeaten 1950 team.

The defensive MVP of the 1949 team, he helped turn the Saint program from a 3-5 team to a 6-2 squad during his football career and was an outstanding infielder and hitter for the Saints baseball teams. He led the 1948 baseball team in hitting with a .310 average and captained the 1951 team. He was an assistant football and baseball coach for St. Lawrence while attending graduate school.

A retired educator, who taught English for 38 years in private schools and also served as an interim headmaster and a dean of students, his athletic career did not end with his graduation from college. He has competed on the national and international levels in racquetball for the last 13 years and was named the 1996 Age Group Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Racquetball Association. He was inducted into the International Racquetball Hall of Fame in 1997 and has won 20 gold medal championships and 12 silver medals in international singles and doubles. He also has two United States Team gold medals and one silver.
