Insurance:
The NCAA requires all participants in NCAA sports to provide health insurance coverage information as requested on the university’s health insurance waiver form, as well as evidence of insurance showing a minimum of $90,000 coverage for athletic related injuries. The University’s athletics department highly recommends that every student -athlete enrolls in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) because of the extensive coverage for athletic related injuries that may not be covered by family (primary) insurance or if your primary insurance is not accepted by local medical providers around St. Lawrence University. St. Lawrence University has purchased a secondary health insurance policy that will cover "excess" medical bills after primary insurance for injuries occurred during official practices and games.
The university also carries a Catastrophic injury insurance policy provided by the NCAA which provides up to $20 million in lifetime benefits to varsity student athletes who are catastrophically injured during qualifying intercollegiate athletics play or practice, or during travel related to these activities. It provides benefits for medically necessary care and treatment in excel of all other available benefit plans. Details of this program are available at the Augsbury Physical Education Center Office.
