Phil Gadsden was one of the defensive leaders of what is arguably the best football team in St. Lawrence history at the time of his induction.

Gadsden had 38 tackles and a pair of sacks in 1982, helping lead the Saints to a 10-0 start, including a win over Wagner in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. While the Saints lost in the semifinals to Augustana, the 10 wins is the most in program history.

In 1983, Gadsden had a team-high four sacks in seven games and earned Second Team All-America honors.

An account manager for Cisco, Gadsden lives in Manlius, N.Y., with his wife, Laurie Renzi Gadsden ’85. He has three children, Melissa, Caroline and Charlie.
