One of the best ever to play baseball at St. Lawrence, Hal Schumacher went on to spend 11 years in the major leagues and was the National League home run leader for pitchers in 1934.

Hal, who played football and basketball while at SLU, signed with the New York Giants at the end of this third year at St. Lawrence and completed his degree at SLU on his graduation day.

He pitched for the Giants in the World Series and compiled a major league won-lost record of 154-117 in his stellar pro career.
