A record-setting defenseman for the 1992 ECAC Champion men’s hockey team, Daniel Laperriere was a first team All America and runner-up for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the nation’s outstanding collegiate player in his senior year.

The St. Lawrence record holder for points in a career, point in a season, assists in a career and assists in a season by a defenseman, Laperriere is the only defenseman on the all-time Saints assist list with 106 and finished his four-year Saints career with 128 points on 22 goals and 106 assists. He set the record for points in a season with 53 and assists in a season with 45 in his senior year when he was named first-team All ECAC, ECAC Player of the Year, All America and Hobey Baker finalist. He also earned all-tournament honors and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 1992 ECAC tournament. He was the second player in Saints history to earn Player of the Year honors and the first defenseman to do so. He was assistant captain in 1991 and captain of the 1992 team.

A second-team All ECAC choice as a junior, he was part of three ECAC finalist teams in his four seasons including the championship teams of 1989 and 1992. He earned all-tournament honors in both 1991 and 1992 and Saints teams went 85-45-7 in his four seasons.

A draft choice of the St. Louis Blues, he had a 16-year professional hockey career which included teams in the National, International and American Hockey Leagues, Germany, Switzerland and the Central Hockey League. He played 48 games in the NHL with the Blues and Ottawa Senators, 417 games in the AHL, IHL and CHL and 388 in the German and Swiss professional leagues prior to his retirement as a player in 2008.

His professional career continued as a coach in the American Hockey League and at the time of his induction he is a professional scout for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League.
