St. Lawrence’s first tennis national champion with doubles partner Nicole Andreson, Mary Harris Day. joined Andreson as the Saints’ first women’s tennis All Americas and had an outstanding career in both singles and doubles.

Mary, playing at the top of the Saint lineup, won conference titles in 1992 and 1993 and was NYSWCAA runner-up in singles in 1993 and doubles champion with Andreson in both 1992 and 1993. She went 40-4 in singles as a junior and senior.

Undefeated in doubles in 1992 in regular season competition, she joined Andreson to go 23-2 overall in doubles, winning the Division III Rolex National Doubles title in three straight matches. One of the two losses the duo sustained on the season came in the “Super Bowl of Women’s Tennis” following their Division III win and was to the Division II champions.

Now an elementary school teacher, Mary earned her master’s degree in education at DePaul University.
