A three-sport all-star from Lowville, New York, Mike Aubel '92 came to St. Lawrence with a reputation as one of the best athletes in the North Country. His St. Lawrence career did not disappoint. He was the football team's lead running back for three seasons and, at the time of his induction, remains the program's all-time leading rusher with 2,250 career rushing yards.

He was also a standout on the baseball field, setting a school record with 12 career home runs with a .328 career batting average. In 1991, he helped lead the team to a 21-8-1 record and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. He hit .379 that season, went 5-for-6 in the first game of the tournament, and finished the tournament with a .636 batting average (7-for-11). He was named St. Lawrence's Senior Male Athlete of the Year in 1992.

After graduation, Mike signed a free agent contract with the Houston Astros and played one year of minor league baseball for the Auburn Astros of the New York Penn League in 1992. After several professional and college coaching stints, Aubel worked as a special education teacher at Owego Free Academy where he coached the baseball team to two Section IV titles in five years. He has spent the last 12 years as an administrator at Maine-Endwell Central School and lives in Owego, New York, with his wife Melissa, and their daughters, Taylor and Alex.
