Hall of Fame
Jim Smith was recognized as one of the nation’s best offensive lineman in 1982, earning First-Team All-America honors after helping lead the Saints to one of the best offensive seasons in program history.
Jim helped open holes for Keith Henry ’84, who rushed for over 1,000 yards, and protected quarterback Mark Ferrante ’83, who broke school records for passing yards, completions and total offense.
St. Lawrence racked up 341 points in Jim’s senior year, a record that, as of his induction into the Hall of Fame, still stands.
St. Lawrence started that season 10-0, including a win in the NCAA Division III Football Championship quarterfinal round, to advance to the semifinals of the national championship.
Jim now works as a lab manager and lives in Honeoye Falls, N.Y., with his wife, Jeanine, and sons, Jake and James.
