Les "Pop" Gallt

The first athlete to represent St. Lawrence in the national Intercollegiate Championships in wrestling and a six-year holder of the record for the fastest pin at 27 seconds in a major wrestling meet, Les “Pop” Gallt is one of St. Lawrence’s all-time wrestling greats.

Considered to be SLU’s premier light weight wrestler for over five decades, he was the first undefeated wrestler, unbeaten in two straight seasons.

Gallt, who also played football and tennis as an undergraduate, is an attorney in Glendale, NY. He earned his law degree at Brooklyn Law School and served in the US Navy following graduation. He was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy and has been staff commander, US Power Squadrons and chairman and secretary of the New York Power Squadrons.

He is still active athletically and is giant slalom champion of the Telemark Ski Club and won the same title in the 70 Plus Ski Club .
