Captain and Most Valuable Player of the 1981 women's lacrosse team which was the first Saint women's team to play in a national tournament, Bea Doering Shea had an outstanding four-year career in lacrosse and finished her four seasons with 110 career points.

She had an 18-game scoring streak from the start of her sophomore season into her senior year and finished her career with 78 goals and 32 assists. She led the 1981 team to the regional championship in the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women at Trenton State, scoring four goals in a 10-5 win over Holy Cross and two in a 5-4 win over Wheaton for the regional title. She was named the Outstanding Offensive Player at the regional tournament.  She added two goals and two assists in a 7-6 win over Longwood in the AIAW National Quarterfinals at Penn State and also scored a goal in a loss to Trenton State in the national semifinals She had nine goals and two assists in the post-season and was selected to the national tournament all star team.

Now a fitness instructor, Bea and her husband Chris are the parents of four children.
