Evan Nichols skied a career-best performance in the men's 10-kilometer freestyle for the St. Lawrence University Nordic ski team on day one of the Williams College Carnival on Friday at the Prospect Ski Center in Woodford, Vt.
Nichols clocked a time of 26:42.6 to finish 29th, the best performance of the day for the Scarlet and Brown, and a career-best for himself.
Boden Sundell and
Foster Savitsky also scored for the Saints, finishing 53rd and 54th, respectively.
Samantha Legate led the way for the women, recording a time of 31:45.8, good for 44th place.
Abby Murphy came in 50th in 31:57.0, while
Berit Meyers placed 63rd in 32:35.1.
"That was a huge breakthrough for Evan today," said head coach
Ethan Townsend "I think everyone knew he was capable but just hadn't put it all together until today and we're proud of her result."
Both the men's and women's team came in 10th place overall after day one of the carnival.
