Boden Sundell and
Samantha Legate led the St. Lawrence University Nordic ski team, finishing 43rd and 45th, to lead the Saints on day two of the Dartmouth Carnival on Saturday afternoon at Oak Hill in Hanover, N.H.
Sundell recorded a time of 42:41.8 to finish the men's mass-start freestyle in 43rd place.
Evan Nichols was not far behind finishing 44th in 42:44.3, while
Carl Morse placed 55th in 43:49.3 to also score for SLU.
Legate led the women's squad, placing 45th in 50:45.0, while
Abby Murphy recorded a time of 51:01.0 good for 58th.
Stella Powell rounded out the scoring in 50th with a time of 51:31.3.
"A big step forward today, I think nearly everybody had their best day so far this season which was exciting," said head coach
Ethan Townsend. "Boden was closing on the top 40 when he broke a pole on the last lap but he nearly got it and to have three women in the top-50 was really good for us right now and exciting to watch."
The women's team placed ninth overall, while the men's team finished 11th. Combined with the scores from the Saints' Alpine team, SLU placed ninth overall.
Up Next: UVM Carnival, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, February 6-7.
