The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team won eight events on the track and the triple jump to defend their Saints Indoor Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Newell Field House.
Hayley Castagnier won the 60 meters in 8.38 seconds and took second in the 60-meter hurdles. She also ran on the winner 4x200 relay team, along with
Margaret McNally,
Caroline Hines, and
Cora Knight.
First-year
Kaylee Bertini won the 60 hurdles, finishing in 10.14 seconds in finals. She also ran on the winning 4x400 relay team with
Alexa Smith,
Alli Sibold, and
Kristina Koes.
Smith and Sibold also won individual events. Smith won the 200 meters in 28.44 seconds. She also made finals in the 60-meter dash, finishing fifth in 8.62 seconds. Sibold won the 800 meters in a personal best and a regional qualifying time of 2:22.47, and
Alexis Parent finished second.
Katherine Sheehy and
Emma Palumbo hit the regional qualifying times in the 3,000 meters. Sheehy won in 10:37.47, just ahead of Palumbo who ran a personal best 10:38.03.
Olivia Watson took third in the event, also running a personal best in 10:50.58.
Bridget Hastings ran a personal best as well, winning the mile in 5:32.01.
Laken Mooney won the triple jump, reaching 9.66 meters on her final jump to secure the win.
In the high jump
Maia Wahlquist took second place. She cleared 1.50 meters.
The Saints won the three team meet finishing with 131 points, ahead of Plattsburgh's 96 and Potsdam's 20. The Saints travel to Plattsburgh for a Sprint/Field meet on Wednesday February 8th, and to Staten Island on the 10th for the Fastrack National Invitational.
