Ella Baker delivered in the clutch at the Liberty League championship on Saturday, erasing two separate program sprinting records, including one that stood for nine years, as the Saints wrapped up the conference meet at the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex as the hosts.
The St. Lawrence women's track and field team wrapped up the Liberty League Championships with a sixth-place finish, highlighted by a record-breaking performance from sophomore
Ella Baker.
After beginning the day by setting a program record in the 100-meter dash with a second-place finish at 12.11, she returned to win the 200-meter dash in 24.78, another program record, while earning her first-career individual championship It marked back-to-back record-breaking performances for Baker across a day of competition.
Amelia Berthold turned in a strong multi-event weekend, finishing second in the heptathlon with a score of 4,234 points and adding a fourth-place result in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters.
The 4x100-meter relay squad of
Isla Bougard Duncan,
Ava Machado,
Samantha Legate, and Baker crossed in fourth place with a time of 50.08.
Maya Dixon rounded out the Saints' scoring with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:10.10.
St. Lawrence now readies for the AARTFC championships.
