Senior
Katherine Sheehy won the 5,000 meters to lead the St. Lawrence University women's track and field team at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Sheehy ran the 25 laps in 18:36.44 to win the six woman race.
Olivia Watson took second place in 19:04.86 for an indoor personal best. The two sit atop the Liberty League performance list, with both well below the 20-minute qualifying standard.
Alli Sibold finished second in the mile in 5:12.91, just a second away from the personal best she set last season.
Emma Palumbo took third in her first race of this indoor season, finishing in 5:18.75. The pair sit second and third on the conference performance list, both hitting the qualifying standard.
Maia Wahlquist cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump and had her second consecutive second-place finish.
Hayley Castagnier and
Kiran Black each earned spots in the 60-meter hurdles final, with Castagnier taking fifth in 10.56 seconds, and Black taking sixth in 10.71 seconds.
The Saints are back in Newell Field House on January 28
th, when they host the St. Lawrence Invitational with events starting at 11 a.m.
