Junior Steph Nicols placed ninth and sophomore Charlie Reinhardt finished 11th to lead the St. Lawrence University Nordic ski team in its second carnival of the season, as the Saints competed against the University of Vermont and the University of New Hampshire in an EISA Qualifier on Friday afternoon at the Woodstock Nordic Center in Woodstock, Vermont.

Nicols completed the women's 5-kilometer classic in 18 minutes and 5.9 seconds, earning 35 EISA points and 29 NCAA points. Jordan Schuster, Samantha Nolan, Gabrielle Wangler and Sydney Peterson all recorded top-20 finishes, claiming 17th-20th, respectively. Schuster and Wangler rounded out the top-three point-scoring athletes for the women's squad.

Reinhardt led the way in the men's 10-kilometer classic race, finishing 11th in 33:26.2 to earn 35 EISA points and 24 NCAA points. Reinhardt was followed by the rest of the Saints' squad finishing 12th-15th. Timothy Cunningham placed 12th in 33:50.9, while George David Gowdy placed 13th in 34:34.9 for the top-three point scorers on the men's side.

"It was nice to be racing again," said head coach Ethan Townsend '98. "It was great to compete against UVM and UNH today and get a couple classic races under our belts."

Combined with the scores from the Alpine women's giant slalom today in East Burke, Vermont, the Saints finished the day in second place with 606 team points.

The Saints will head back to the Jackson XC Touring Center for another UNH Carnival on Friday, February 19.
