Prior to St. Lawrence

Gowdy participated in cross country, Nordic skiing and track and field at Fall Mountain. He was captain of his cross country and Nordic team and was a two-time All-State honoree for cross country and once for Nordic. He was also an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.
