A total of 78 St. Lawrence University fall sport student-athletes earned Liberty League All-Academic honors in their respective sports, as announced by the Liberty League Commissioner Tracy King Monday afternoon. In total, 763 fall sport student-athletes have qualified for the league's All-Academic teams. The total surpasses last fall's record number of 763 and is an increase of 210 since the fall of 2019 when 630 were recognized.
To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and enrolled full-time with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30. The Liberty League elevated the GPA requirement from 3.20 to 3.30 in 2016-17 to follow the established standard for eligibility for CoSIDA Academic All-America awards.
"Our student-athletes returned to the playing field this fall and have continued to excel in the classroom," said King. "Despite the challenges that they've faced over the past year while adjusting to COVID-19 changes, they have continued to excel academically. I'm incredibly proud of the resilience and hard work our student-athletes continue to display."
