Junior
Steph Nicols posted her second-consecutive second-place finish in the women's 10-kilometer skate to lead the St. Lawrence University Nordic ski team on day two of the University of New Hampshire Carnival at the Jackson XC Touring Center in Jackson, New Hampshire on Friday afternoon.
After a second-place finish in the 7-kilometer skate yesterday, Nicols skied the 10-kilometer course in 32 minutes and 38.6 seconds, finishing less than a minute behind Lucy Anderson from UNH. With second place, Nicols earned 47 EISA points and 80 NCAA points.
Jordan Schuster,
Robyn McIntosh and
Claire Wagner all finished in the top-15 for the Scarlet and Brown finishing 13th-15th, respectively.
On the men's side, senior
Timothy Cunningham posted a sixth-place finish in the men's 10-kilometer skate, finishing in 30:41.1 to earn 41 EISA points and 45 NCAA points. First-year
George David Gowdy placed ninth in 31:29.2, while
Charlie Reinhardt rounded out the top-three men's scorers in 10th with a time of 31:52.1.
"Today was a challenging day weather wise," said head coach
Ethan Townsend '98. "I'm proud of our team for enjoying the opportunity to race even if it was just a dual meet and we appreciate UNH's willingness to host especially under the circumstances."
Combined with the scores from yesterday, the Saints took second place in the dual-meet carnival with UNH.
Up Next: St. Lawrence is set to host a one-day home carnival on February 12 at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid, New York.
