The first varsity eight boat for the St. Lawrence University men's rowing team captured second place Saturday afternoon in the first meet of the season at the Bridge-to-Bridge Regatta at Hamilton College.
The Saints' top boat finished behind Colgate, but ahead of Hamilton College by 22 seconds with a time of 24:22.1 over the 6.6-kilometer course.
The second and third varsity boats captured fourth and fifth place respectively. The Saints had the lone novice boats at the regatta and captured first and second place.
The first varsity eight was coxed by Elisabeth Bartkis and rowed by Tyler Frame, Bernardo Moreno, Jeremy Sylvain, Palchen Wangchuk, Jackson Leahy, Casmir Masiewicz, David Kunin and Henry Sandiford.
The members of the second varsity boat were Alex McKenna, Matt Rostkowski, Tristan Anderson, Gregor Petakovic, Parker Phipps, Greg Blasz, Dylan Hemsted and Erik Werner with Vina Smith-Ramakrishnan as the coxswain.
In the third varsity boat were rowers Ian Girdwood, Ryan Davis, Mo Tunkara, Daniel Rogers, JF Boucher, Nathaniel Boechat, Lin Ge, Thomas Jones and coxswain Winslow Gunning.
The first novice boat was rowed by Jake Laser, Tristan McCutcheon, Randall Hooper, Troy Browse, Nathan Long, Nathaniel Murphy, Tucker Wehner and Jessie Meyer with Madison Sorel as the coxswain.
The second novice boat included Janis Broder as the coxswain and rowers Joseph Burchenal, Christian Eveleigh, Ian Erlichman, Brian McCauley, Christian Emmet, Thomas Talbot, Oscar Wilkerson and Liam Herzfeld.
The Saints are scheduled to compete next at Head of the Genesee Regatta in Rochester Saturday.
