March 12: The St. Lawrence women's tennis team rolled to its sixth consecutive dual match victory with a 6-1 defeat of Haverford on Wednesday night to remain undefeated on the season.
The Saints (6-0) clinched the match with five wins in singles play to start the evening. Most notably,
Anna Young came back after dropping the first set 3-6 to take the next two 6-4, 6-3 and earn a win over Katherine Douches in the fifth spot.
Olivia Arroyo and
Morgan McNeal picked up wins at the second and third positions, while
Georgia Comber and
Hallie Young each shut out their opponents in the first set at four and six, respectively.
Hallie Young also teamed with
Samantha Miller in doubles for the Saints sixth point of the evening, as the duo defeated Abigail Payson and Jessica Lui 8-2. They were they only doubles competitors to finish before a lighting issue on the courts forced the match to be called.
An earlier match versus Cornell College was postponed due to rain on Wednesday and will be made up Thursday morning to complete the team's spring training schedule.
