The Saints went 2-1 in doubles action and won five of their six singles matches as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team started their Spring Break trip with a 6-1 win over Centre College on Monday morning in Orlando, Fla.
St. Lawrence improved to 6-1, while Centre fell to 5-4.
In doubles, seniors
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and
Molly Jespersen dominated in the number one spot 6-0 against Grace Williams and Carlie Mitchell, and the Saints took the doubles point thanks to a 6-2 win at three, where
Eleanor McDermed and
Yvette Karera beat Olivia Watson and Shelby Franklin.
In singles, Aksdal-Jansen and Jespersen continued to stack wins, winning at one and two. Aksdal-Jansen defeated Williams at one, 6-1, 6-4, while Jespersen took her match against Kennedy Herring 6-2, 6-4 at two.
At three,
Elisa Iuri took on Watson and won her match 6-4, 6-1, then at four,
Yvette Karera earned her second win with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Shelby Franklin. The final win of the day came from
Ariane Karera, who took on Natalie Black at number five and won 7-6 (6-4), 6-4.
St. Lawrence will be back on the court in the Sunshine State tomorrow when they take on Liberty League foe, Union.
