The Saints saw
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen and
Molly Jespersen go 2-0, but the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team fell to Luther College 4-3 on Thursday afternoon at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Fla.
St. Lawrence fell to 8-3, while Luther improved to 12-4.
The Scarlet and Brown got off to a strong start, taking the doubles point with a pair of wins. At one, Aksdal-Jansen and Jespersen took on Abbey Ostermann and Allie Christensen and won 6-0, while
Ariane Karera and
Elisa Iuri won a close 7-6 (7-1) match at two to secure the 1-0 lead.
In singles, Aksdal-Jansen and Jespersen doubled up with Aksdal-Jansen winning 6-1, 6-4 at one, and Jespersen taking a 6-3, 6-3 victory at two.
St. Lawrence will head back north and will be back on court on Friday, April 3, when they head to Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., to take on Bard in a 3:30 p.m. match.
