Kaiden Villeneuve recorded a season-best performance in the men's giant slalom to lead the St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team on day one of the Middlebury College Carnival/NCAA Eastern Regionals on Friday at the Middlebury Snowbowl.
Villeneuve posted the top result for the Saints, clocking a two-run time of 1:57.95 to finish 17th.
Charlie Welch and
Jacob Foote posted top-30 results, finishing 24th and 27th, respectively.
Audrey Higgins-Lopez led the women with a 30th-place finish in 2:05.45.
Lauren Haerter placed 33rd in 2:05.86, while
Norah Dempsey placed 35th in 2:06.08 to also score for the Saints.
The Saints' men's team placed eighth overall, while the women placed 10th. Combined with the Nordic scores, SLU placed ninth after day one of the carnival.
