Nolan Skis to 13th Place in Giant Slalom at NCAAs

Senior Alec Nolan recorded a 13th-place finish in the men's giant slalom on day one of the 2026 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by the University of Utah at the Utah Olympic Park in Park City.

On a beautiful blue-sky day in Utah, Nolan skied a first-run time of 59.42, which landed him in 23rd place. Flipping the lineup of first-run finishers, Nolan was scheduled ninth out of the start gate for run two. He recorded a time of 57.70 in the second run and put himself at a two-run time of 1:57.12, which tied for the lead with 22 skiers left to race.

Nolan finished tied for 13th with Will Steed from Montana State University. His 13th-place is the fifth-best result for the Saints at NCAAs, following two 11th-place giant slalom finishes from Graham Scott '15 in 2013 and Ava Mattson '22 in 2022.

"A great result for Alec today in the giant slalom," said head coach Willi Steinrotter. "We're so proud of him and the focus and work that he has put in over his four years. The course was a bit challenging with the snow, but the course sets were good, and he put in the work to ski well in a strong field. We're looking forward a good race on Friday in the slalom."

Nolan will continue his run in the postseason and compete in the slalom on Friday, March 13 at the Utah Olympic Park. The men's first run is scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m. EST.
