The St. Lawrence University Alpine skiing program and head coach
Willi Steinrotter are pleased to announce the third annual Auty/Reynolds Most Valuable Performer award winners –
Audrey Higgins-Lopez '26 and
Alec Nolan '26.
The award formally recognizes two distinguished alumni of the Alpine program and the Laurentian community – JD Reynolds '64 and Chris Auty '76.
JD Reynolds '64 – Alpine Ski Team, In memory of his lifelong love of skiing, intense passion for competitive ski racing and relentless pursuit of excellence.
Chris Auty '76 – Prototypical Scholar Athlete; George F. Baker Scholar, Alpine Ski Team, Football Team
The Reynolds family has had four family members that have been a part of the Alpine ski program at St. Lawrence. JD, John, Steve, and most recent ski team member Jake '25 have all been an integral part of the program's history and future.
Chris Auty was a valuable member of the skiing and football teams during his time in Scarlet and Brown and helped pave the way for the future generations of excelling student-athletes in both programs.
"Audrey had a successful time at St. Lawrence," said Steinrotter "She had a couple of injuries that kept her from reaching her full potential. With that said, she was always one of the top giant slalom skiers in the EISA, with a number of top 10 finishes over her career."
"Alec has had a tremendous career at St. Lawrence," Steinrotter added. He was the last person I took on the team his first year, and he worked from there to be one of the best skiers in the EISA the last two years! He showed that he can race with the best skiers in the country! He will be hard to replace."
The Auty/Reynolds MVP Awards are presented annually at the Saints end-of-year BBQ, following the conclusion of the Saints Alpine season.
