The St. Lawrence University Alpine skiing program and head coach Willi Steinrotter are pleased to announce the 2026 Frits H. Sample '94 award recipients – Cordelia Sherwood '26 and Andrew Van Slyke '26.

The Frits H. Sample award was created to celebrate the memory of Frits H. Sample '94, a member of the Alpine Ski Team, a Psychology major and a Dean's List student, Frits was a vibrant member of the Laurentian community.

After St. Lawrence, Frits moved to Colorado where he was an active mountain climber, hiker, and outdoor enthusiast. He passed on in 2000, while pursuing a sport that he loved.

"Cordelia was a team player through and through," said Steinrotter. "She never let any adversity keep her down. She battled through a number of injuries and always worked hard to get back. I am sure she will be successful in whatever life throws at her."

"Andy has been such a great member of the team over the last four years, and it was a shame to see him get injured in his senior year," Steinrotter added. "He always worked hard and was an outstanding teammate!"

The Frits H. Sample '94 awards are presented annually at the Saints end-of-year BBQ, following the conclusion of the Saints Alpine season.
