Alec Nolan recorded his second fifth-place finish of the season, matching his career best, to lead the St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team in the giant slalom on day one of the Williams College Carnival on Friday at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, Mass.
Nolan won the second run of the day with a time of 47.14, putting together a two-run time of 1:32.35, to finish in fifth place, matching his best finish.
Charlie Welch placed 26th to also score for the Saints, while
Stefan Brennwald was a non-scoring skier and placed 32nd.
Lauren Haerter led the women's squad in 31st, recording a time of 1:38.58, while
Norah Dempsey placed 42nd in 1:40.43.
"It was a great day for Alec," said head coach
Willi Steinrotter. "He put together two really solid runs, with a win in the second to put him in a great position. Both Charlie and Lauren also had solid days and that was good to see."
With a point boost from Nolan, the Saints' men's team finished the day in sixth place overall, while the women came in 12th.
