The St. Lawrence University women's swimming and diving team continued their mid-season surge on Friday afternoon, posting a decisive 129-47 victory over SUNY Potsdam at Maxcy Hall Pool.
Lilly Mruzik anchored the Saints' sprint efforts, taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a swift time of 26.28. In the distance lanes,
Garyn Finz set the pace for the field, winning the 500-yard freestyle with a commanding finish of 5:50.72.
Sophie Nelson added to the win column in the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 2:11.03. Her performance marked a new season-best time in the event.
The Saints also excelled in other stroke events, led by
Ila Musclow and
Amelia Stacy. Musclow dominated the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing first with a time of 1:17.87. Stacy followed suit in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 1:07.91 to secure another top-podium finish for St. Lawrence.
St. Lawrence opened and closed the meet with strong relay performances, sweeping both the medley and freestyle events. The 200-yard medley relay team of Mruzik, Musclow, Finz, and
McKenna Kraft took first place with a time of 2:02.11.
The Saints later capped off the afternoon with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the quartet of Nelson, Mruzik,
Faith Rhinehart, and
Scout Huckans combined for a winning time of 1:53.62.
The Saints will return to action quickly as they look to build on this performance in their next dual meet against Hartwick on Saturday, January 24.
