The St. Lawrence University women's swimming and diving team maintained its position during the second day of the Liberty League Championships on Thursday.
Following the second day of action at the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium on the campus of Ithaca College, the Saints sit in eighth place overall with 149 points.
Amelia Stacy provided the highlight of the evening in the 400-yard individual medley. After qualifying with a time of 4:47.31 in the morning preliminaries, Stacy surged in the finals to take fourth place. Her final time of 4:44.32 represented an improvement of nearly three seconds from her morning swim.
In the same event,
Faith Rhinehart made a massive jump in the standings, finishing 23rd overall. Rhinehart dropped 13 seconds from her preliminary time to touch the wall in 5:30.26, a mark that also stands as a five-second lifetime best.
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Garyn Finz competed again. After a 1:02.88 in the prelims, she shaved nearly a full second off in the night session to finish 20th with a season-best time of 1:01.93.
The Saints closed the night with a seventh-place effort in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of
Ila Musclow,
Gracie Ringer,
McKenna Kraft, and
Lilly Mruzik combined for a time of 1:42.40.
Friday's morning session is set for 10 a.m. in Ithaca, N.Y., as the team enters the second half of their conference championship.
