Audrey Higgins-Lopez recorded a 17th-place finish in the women's giant slalom to lead the St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team on day two of the Colby Carnival at Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine on Saturday.
Higgins-Lopez clocked in a final time of 2:17.19, while first-year
Arielle Haccoun Choquette also scored for SLU finishing 32nd in 2:25.33.
Both men's finishers placed in the top 30, as
Alec Nolan came in 23rd with a time of 2:12.67 and
Charlie Welch placed 29th in 2:14.18.
"Another difficult day for the Saints," said head coach
Willi Steinrotter. "We had Audrey who had a solid result and Arielle finished her second carnival race in a row with a good finish. The guys had another hard day, where people were skiing well and slipped up in a difficult part of the course which cost us. We're looking forward to racing at our home venue at Whiteface next weekend."
The women's squad finished the day in eighth place, while the men came in ninth.
Next weekend the Saints will be on home turf next weekend, as they host the St. Lawrence Carnival on January 22-23.
