Logan Mancuso was the top collegiate finisher in the 3,000-meter run, and
Gordon White had the best long jump among collegiate competitors to lead the St. Lawrence University men's track and field team at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday afternoon in Middlebury, Vermont.
Mancuso (pictured above) dropped 2.46 seconds off his personal best time in the 3,000, finishing in eight minutes, 49.33 seconds. He was just over five seconds behind Brian Rich, an unattached runner, and nearly nine seconds ahead of RPI's Danny Napora, his nearest collegiate competitor.
White's distance of 6.85 meters was 16 centimeters behind Ian Weider, who competed as an individual. Utica's Ka'Sean Watlington was third, 24 centimeters shy of White's performance.
Dylan Babcock had a huge personal best in the weight throw, skipping right past the 14-meter mark with a 15.02-meter throw to finish second. His previous best performance in the event came in December at the Saints Holiday Relays, when he posted a mark of 13.92 meters.
The Saints finished in fifth place in the six-team invitational with 92 points. Middlebury won the team title with 148 points, with RPI second with 136. St. Lawrence was just three points behind Utica, which finished fourth.
