The St. Lawrence University men's rowing team opened up their spring season with a couple of second place finishes Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, New York.
The men's varsity 8 was coxed by
Elisabeth Bartkus and rowed by
Greg Blasz,
Randall Hooper,
Jackson Leahy,
Bernardo Moreno,
Casimir Misiewicz,
Matthew Rostkowski,
Henry Sandiford and captain
Palchen Wangchuk. The grouping finished second to Ithaca with a time of six minutes and 33.89 seconds.
The second varsity 8 boat also recorded a second place to Ithaca finishing with a time of 6:32.81. The second boat was coxed by
Janis Broder and rowed by
Nathaniel Boechat,
Dylan Hemsted,
Evan Ketcham,
Ian Girdwood,
Jessie Meyer,
Jake Laser and
Daniel Rogers.
The last two varsity boats for the Saints took second and third in the men's novice race. The third varsity 8 - A team finished second with a time of 6:51.9 while the B team finished third in 7:16.02.
The A boat was coxed by

Matthew Boscow,
Tristan McCutcheon,
Gregor Petakovic,

Jeremy Sylvain, while the B boat was coxed by

Thomas Jones,
Nathan Long,
Robert Ryan and
Oscar Wilkerson.
The Saints got off to a late competition start this season due to course flooding in their first two races, but were happy to get on the water this afternoon. Today's race marked the first collegiate competition for Hills.
The Saints look to improve next weekend as they travel to Hamilton on Saturday.
