2016-17: Girdwood helped the third varsity eight row to a fifth-place finish at Hamilton and earned Liberty League All-Academic honors for the second-consecutive season.

2015-16: Girdwood took home Liberty League All- Academic honors.

2014-15: During his first year with the Saints, Girdwood helped the novice eight row to a first-place finish at Rochester in the spring opener and a second-place finish at the Liberty League Championships… He also helped the novice eight to a fourth-place finish at the Head of the Fish Regatta… The novice eight also rowed to a first-place finish at the ECAC Championships.

Prior to St. Lawrence 
Girdwood participated on the cross country, Nordic skiing, rowing, and football teams... He served as captain of the rowing team, and earned all-conference safety of the year for football, and was a recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award from the Joe Yukica National Football Foundation ... The Lebanon native was a member of the National Honor Society and on the honor roll.
