After climbing back into the national rankings at No. 37 this week, the St. Lawrence women's tennis team posted a pair wins over Bard and New Paltz on Saturday afternoon at Bard. The Saints swept the Raptors 9-0 before beating New Paltz 8-1 in the afternoon match.
St. Lawrence, also ranked No. 13 in the Northeast region, started the day with a sweep of doubles against Bard with
Alexandra Dadoly and
Lia Petersen earning an 8-0 win at No. 2 and both the No. 1 and No. 3 pairs winning 8-1 in their matches.
Each of the Saints straight-set singles wins against the Raptors featured a 6-0 set, with junior
Georgia Comber pacing St. Lawrence with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Morgan McNeal,
Hallie Young, Dadoly, Petersen and
Carly Jefferson were the other singles winners in the sweep.
In the afternoon match against New Paltz, the Saints held a 2-1 lead after doubles following a win via retirement for the top pair of McNeal and Comber; who earned a No. 9 ranking among doubles pairs in the region this week.
Emily Wyman and
Hallie Young earned an 8-5 win at No. 2.
The Saints once again swept singles in straight sets against the Hawks to help the team to the 8-1 win to improve to 11-5 overall.
Wyman, Comber and Young were all dual winners in the New Paltz match for St. Lawrence, as Wyman and Young won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, and Comber picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2.
The Saints will wrap up the weekend with another Liberty League match at RPI on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
