Novice Four Boat leads Saints at the Head of the Fish Regatta

The St. Lawrence University men's novice four entry finished fifth overall as was the top finisher for the Saints at the annual Head of the Fish Regatta Saturday afternoon in Saratoga as the Saints wrapped up the Fall portion of the schedule.

The crews faced a head wind and at times rainy conditions over the course for the event that attracted crews from upwards of 30 teams from across the Northeast.

The novice four boat with coxswain Janis Broder, John Laser, Tristan McCutcheon, Randall Hooper and Brian McCauley captured fifth place with a time of 12:31.6

The varsity eight top boat finished 12th among the best collegiate crews at the regatta with a time of 10:45.0. The boat included coxswain Elisabeth Bartkus and rowers Jackson Leahy, Matthew Rostkowski, Jeremy Sylvain, Palchen Wangchuk, Tyler Frame, Bernardo Moreno, Greg Blasz and Casimir Misiewicz.

The second varsity eight was 10th in its race with a time of 11:15.2 and included coxswain Vina Smith and rowers Michael Bauman, Nathaniel Boechat, Tristan Anderson, Gregor Petakovic, Alex McKenna, Henry Sandiford, Dylan Hemsted and Erik Werner.

The third entry for the varsity eight competition was 14th with coxswain Winslow Gunning and rowers Ian Girdwood, Ryan Davis, Parker Phipps, Evan Ketcham, David Kunin, Mo Tunkara, Lin Ge and JF Boucher.

The men's novice boats captured 10th and 15th place with the top crew featuring coxswain Madison Sorel and rowers John Laser, Tristan McCutcheon, Randall Hooper, Troy Browse, Chris Emmet, Brian McCauley, Nathan Long and Jessie Meyer. The second boat had coxswain Janis Broder and rowers Joseph Burchenal, Daniel Rogers, Ian Erlichman, Henry Sandiford, Robert Wehner, Christian Eveleigh, Oscar Wilkerson and Thomas Jones.

The Saints also sent a pair of varsity four boats to the competition with the top entry finishing 13th and the second entry placing 17th for the Saints. The top boat included coxswain Winslow Gunning and rowers Jackson Leahy, Palchen Wangchuk, Tyler Frame and Casimir Misiewicz while the second entry featured coxswain Elisabeth Bartkus and rowers Greg Blasz, Matthew Rostkowski, Jeremy Sylvain and Bernardo Moreno.
