Seniors Ryan Donovan, Finn Murphy, Savino Morelli and Brennan Twombly have been selected by their teammates, as captains of the 2026 St. Lawrence University football team.

"The selection of these four young men as our captains for the 2026 football season comes as no surprise," said head coach Dan Puckhaber. "We had one of our most productive "spring" seasons in my 16 years here and these great players were at the front leading in every way. I'm excited to see what this football team can accomplish this fall with their leadership."

Donovan and Murphy, both anchors on the offensive line for the Saints, helped SLU log 2,925 yards on offense last season, averaging 292.5 yards per play and totaling 25 touchdowns on the season.

Morelli, a second-year captain for the Scarlet and Brown, ranked second on the squad with 73 tackles (34 solo, 39 assists), including four tackles for the loss in 2025. He also recorded two fumble recoveries and a safety.

Twombly, another key player on defense, logged 53 tackles (25S, 28A). He also recorded two tackles for the loss, one interception, one breakup and a blocked kick. His 53 tackles ranked 24th in the league.

Donovan and Twombly both earned All-Liberty League honors last season, while all four Saints earned conference All-Academic accolades. Morelli and Murphy also earned CSC Academic All-District.

SLU finished the 2025 season with a 4-6 overall record and are scheduled to open the 2026 season on the road and under the lights at Norwich on Friday, September 4.
