The Saints began their nationals run this 2025-2026 year with three teams acquiring enough seasonal points to qualify.
Valorant, Rocket League, and Overwatch started their nationals journey to see which team could surpass the Saints best finish to date in the Nationals bracket, which was a Quarterfinals exit back in Spring of 2025 by Saints Overwatch after defeating Thomas College in the Round of 16.
To start off the week Valorant met it's match after a valiant attempt to thwart Mount Vernon Nazarene University. St. Lawrence ultimately lost 2-0 in a tight series, but that scoreline does not do the competition justice. The first map, Breeze (Nazarene's map pick) went all the way to overtime with the final map score being 14-16 Nazarene. Despite a rocket start on this map for the Saints they fought back with every once of effort, a great performance considering Breeze was only added to the map pool two weeks ago and Saints Valorant had very low exposure with this map. The Saints tried to retaliate on Haven and after sitting on map point, down 9-12, they came all the way back to the very last round, losing 11-13.
Onto Wednesday, Saints Rocket League lost 4-0 against Warner University, the current top seed of the Division V Nationals bracket. The Saints had their fair share of shots and goals, but the power of the top seed was too much for the Saints to execute their strategy.
Finally, on Friday, Overwatch pulled through with a standout performance against Carroll University, winning 3-2. The best-of-five series would be a back and forth series with Saints winning game one, three, and five, losing both Push (game two) and Flashpoint (game four). Despite the routine setbacks, the Saints were able to overpower Carroll on the final game, Hybrid, to take victory. The No. 7 seed, Saints Overwatch will advance to the Quarterfinals on Friday, May 1st, to play Indiana University, th eNo. 15 seed at 6:00 pm EST, who upset the No. 2 seed, Louisiana Christian University, 3-0.
Needless to say, the Saints have a very uphill battle ahead of them, but are hungry to outperform their best nationals performance yet, when Fort Lewis reverse swept the Saints 3-2 to take their place in semifinals. If the Saints beat Indiana University, they will immediately play a second match Friday evening at 8:00 pm EST, to decide whether or not they have a place in the finals.
