Amelia Berthold is atop the multi standings for the St. Lawrence University's women's track and field team following day one at the RPI Under the Lights Invite.
The team currently sits fourth in the standings after day one of the outdoor meet in Troy, N.Y., with three events still to come in the heptathlon alone. She won the heptathlon's high jump with a leap for 1.51 meters, and had personl-best outings in the 100-meter hurdles, shot put, and the 200-meter dash to lead her team's outing following the opening day of competition.
Berthold holds first place in the heptathlon with 2,485 points through the first four events. She still has three events remaining to build on that lead.
In the field,
Kaitlyn Putman turned in a strong multi-event performance, earning a pair of top-three finishes. She placed second in the javelin throw with a mark of 32.43 meters and added a third-place finish in the discus at 37.96 meters. She just missed the AARTFC standard in the discus.Â
Madison Beaudoin rounded out St. Lawrence's scoring efforts on the track, finishing seventh in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:43.66.
Eva Gaetano and Lola Buckley both qualified for the Liberty League championship in the discus. Isla Bougard-Duncan set a personal record in the outdoor long jump, and Caroline Hines also recorded a lifetime best in the event.
St. Lawrence returns to the meet at RPI on Saturday.
