St. Lawrence Varsity Esports Week Seven Recap

The Saints top off the end of their spring 2026 season, as week seven of the NECC comes to a close.

Starting off on Monday, Valorant dominated Ontario Tech, winning 2-0, to end their season 5-2, securing the third seed for Eastern Conference Playoffs.

On Tuesday, Super Smash Bros 'B' won 2-0 over New England College to deny New England a shot at a spring post season. Furthermore, on Wednesday, Super Smash Bros 'B' completed their season 5-2, finishing a rescheduled match from week six against Thomas College, winning 2-0.

Rocket League came close this week, but fell 4-1 to Queen's University, ending their spring season 1-6. Super Smash Bros 'B' and Overwatch did not have any matches this week and ended their season 5-2 and 4-2, respectively.

The highlighted match of the week goes to Valorant's Wednesday nights rescheduled quarterfinal match that was originally scheduled over spring break. The Saints shut down Hagertown Community College early in map one on Pearl with a six-round lead, turn that momentum into a 13-4 win. Onto map two, Bind, the Saints maintained that momentum to win 13-6, advancing to the conference semifinals. Our athlete of the week goes to Spencer Kavanaugh for racking up a total of 36 kills split between the two games and for his performance earlier in the week against Ontario Tech. Whenever the team needed someone to show up and clutch out a round, Spencer was there, ready to pounce!
