Alec Nolan highlighted the afternoon for the St. Lawrence University Alpine ski team, posting a fifth-place finish in the giant slalom to lead the Saints at the Dartmouth College Carnival on Friday in Hanover, N.H.
Nolan recorded a career-best finish, logging a two-run time of 1:57.00. Also scoring for the Saints was
Simon Trudeau, who came in 22nd in 1:58.78, and
Jacob Foote, who placed 39th in 2:00.13.
On the women's side,
Audrey Higgins-Lopez led the way, placing 20th in 2:03.66. Lauren Haeter and
Charlotte Lehr both recorded a top-40 result, as Haerter came in 33rd in 2:06.39, while Lehr placed 38th in 2:07.30.
"Alec had a really good first run and a good day making it to the top five is one of our better results in a number of years," said head coach
Willi Steinrotter. "Audrey had another good day finishing in the top 20. The women were in a good spot after the first run with three in the top 30, and the men finishing fifth overall, it was a solid day and there are a lot of positives to bring into tomorrow."
The men placed a season-best fifth place, while the women came in ninth overall.
