The St. Lawrence University women's track and field team delivered a well-rounded performance on Saturday, securing a second-place finish at the St. Lawrence Invitational.
Competing in front of a home crowd at the Newell Field House, the Saints received a surge of personal bests to claim three individual titles and numerous podium spots across the track and field events.
The Saints found immediate success in the sprints and middle-distance races, led by a dominant performance from
Ella Baker. Baker surged ahead of the field in the 60-meter dash, claiming first place with a time of 8.03.
In the mile run,
Madison Beaudoin set the pace for the Saints, earning a first-place finish with a personal-best time of 5:13.43. The momentum continued in the hurdles and middle distance, as
Grace Galbreath took second in the 60-meter hurdles (10.39) and
Addison Ash clocked a personal-best 2:28.68 to finish second in the 800-meter run.
St. Lawrence was equally effective in the field, where
Kaitlyn Putman headlined the throwing events. Putman secured a first-place finish in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 10.66 meters.
The Saints also saw a breakthrough in the weight throw, where
Rosemary Fleischmann launched a personal-best 12.56 meters to take third. These performances in the circles provided a strong foundation for the team's overall score.
The jumps crew added crucial points to the team total with a string of third-place finishes.
Cecelia Ballard cleared a personal-best height of 1.45 meters in the high jump.
Emma Brosell took third in the triple jump with a leap of 9.86 meters, and
Kiran Black secured third in the long jump with a mark of 4.73 meters.
This collective effort across every event group allowed the Saints to maintain their standing as one of the top competitors in the invitational field.
