A first-year sprinter for St. Lawrence University women's track and field team didn't waste any time before making her mark in the indoor program history books, as
Ella Baker led a productive outing for the Saints with a 60-meter program record at the Middlebury Snowflake Invitational.
Baker set the mark, previously held at 7.92 by Hannah Kinsey in Feburary 2014, with a second-place finish in the 60-meter run, clocking a time of 7.89. It also set a personal best for the Saints' newcomer. Baker also had a victory at the meet, placing first in the 200-meter run with a time of 26.33.
"We launched into 2026 on a high note today at Middlebury," said Saints head coach
Kate Howard. We're very proud of all the hard work the group has put in during our fall and winter training blocks and we're excited to see our progress from here."

Ella Baker was remarkable in her 60-meter run today," Howard continued. "The 60-meter record was in the conversation, but to achieve a school record in only her second collegiate meet is a tremendous accomplishment."
Elsewhere in the meet,
Madison Beaudoin won the 1000-meter run in 3:10.05, a performance that ranks 10
th in Division III this season.
Amelia Berthold captured first place in the 400-meter run with a personal-best time of 1:02.68, while
Avery Blanchard earned the victory in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:58.44.
The Saints closed the meet with a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as Maggie McNally,
Addison Ash, Beaudoin, and
Maya Dixon combined for a time of 4:22.90. Ash added a second-place finish in the 500-meter run at 1:28.28.
In the hurdles,
Grace Galbreath placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.07, and Dixon finished seventh with a personal-best time of 10.42.
St. Lawrence heads back to New York for its next two competitions, opening with the Utica Winter Opener on Friday, January 16, followed by the home St. Lawrence Invitational at Newell Field House starting Friday, January 23.
