Nick Lyndaker,
Patrick Russell, and
Griffin Roeder swept the top three individual spots at the Hamilton Short Course, leading the St. Lawrence University men's cross country team to a first-place finish at the five-kilometer trot in Clinton, N.Y.
The win is the second consecutive first-place finish for the Scarlet and Brown this year, and also the second straight win at Hamilton College.
"The team raced well today with several team members running new best times for a cross country 5k," said Saints head coach
John Newman. "The rest of our season will consist of only our standard race distance of 8k with three of those races being on the Hoff. Today served as a great spring board to the next phase of our season. I was impressed by the execution of our race plan and the drive from team members in the last half of the race, passing a number of competitors in the process. It feels good for the guys to close out the race with a team win and taking the top three individual places."
Lyndaker led the Saints, finishing first in a time of 15:14.9. He was followed closely by fellow seniors
Patrick Russell, who placed second in a PR of 15:20.2, and
Griffin Roeder, who took third in 15:23.6 with a PR time.
Henry Hagen added a PR performance with a 12th-place finish in 15:49.3, while
Riley Cushman crossed in 14th at his lifetime-best time of 15:51.3. Both
Eliot O'Mahoney and
Cyrus Goetze achieved personal bests as well, with O'Mahoney finishing 16th in 15:55.3, and Goetze rounding out the Saints' top seven with a 32nd-place finish in 16:15.2.
