Saints Alpine Skiing Announces Third Annual Auty/Reynolds Award Winners

The St. Lawrence University Alpine skiing program and head coach Willi Steinrotter are pleased to announce the third annual Auty/Reynolds Most Valuable Performer award winners – Benni Caloro '25 and Kobe Villeneuve '25.

The award formally recognizes two distinguished alumni of the Alpine program and the Laurentian community – JD Reynolds '64 and Chris Auty '76.

JD Reynolds '64 – Alpine Ski Team, In memory of his lifelong love of skiing, intense passion for competitive ski racing and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Chris Auty '76 – Prototypical Scholar Athlete; George F. Baker Scholar, Alpine Ski Team, Football Team

The Reynolds family has had four family members that have been a part of the Alpine ski program at St. Lawrence. JD, John, Steve, and current ski team member Jake have all been an integral part of the program's history and future.

Chris Auty was a valuable member of the skiing and football teams during his time in Scarlet and Brown and helped pave the way for the future generations of excelling student-athletes in both programs.

"Benni has been an important part of our women's team the last four years and has been a great performer for us for three years," said Steinrotter. "Unfortunately, her sophomore year, she had a knee injury that took her out for the whole season, but her hard work and perseverance brought her back to being one of the best skiers in the EISA."

"I am so proud of what Kobe has accomplished in his career at St. Lawrence University. His results this year speak volumes for his dedication and focus. He was not only the Auty/Reynolds Most Valuable Performer award, but he also won the male Senior Scholar-Athlete award, which shows he performed in both venues."

Caloro recorded a career-best ninth-place finish in the slalom at the Saints home carnival. She recorded four EISA top-20 finishes on the season, including two top 10's. Her second-best finish of the season was 10th in the slalom at Saint Michael's.

Villeneuve recorded six EISA top-20 finishes this season, including two top 10's. He recorded a career-best second-place podium finish in the giant slalom at the Saint Michael's Carnival. His second-best finish of the season was seventh place in the giant slalom at Middlebury. He qualified for the 2025 NCAA Championships, placing 19th in the giant slalom and 21st in the slalom.
