The St. Lawrence University Alpine skiing program and head coach Willi Steinrotter are pleased to announce the 2025 Frits H. Sample '94 award recipients – Paige Doyle '25 and Hugh Dempsey '25.

The Frits H. Sample award was created to celebrate the memory of Frits H. Sample '94, a member of the Alpine Ski Team, a Psychology major and a Dean's List student, Frits was a vibrant member of the Laurentian community.

After St. Lawrence, Frits moved to Colorado where he was an active mountain climber, hiker, and outdoor enthusiast. He passed on in 2000, while pursuing a sport that he loved.

"Paige was a senior captain and her attention to detail helped the team be successful this year," said Steinrotter. "She is a great student and is extremely focused on the slopes and that leads to her having her best results this season!"

"Hugh has had to endure through so much during his time at St. Lawrence and he always kept his attention and focus on becoming a better student-athlete. It has been a pleasure to coach and work with Hugh, and I know that he will be successful in his future endeavors."

The Frits H. Sample '94 awards are presented annually, following the conclusion of the Saints Alpine season.
